Simple Projects

Science Fair projects do not have to be extravagant in order to be fun and educational. Something as basic as seed germination can be divided in to several different projects. For instance, tracking the germination rate of different types of seed, or studying the effects of various amounts of water, plant food, amount of light and temperature on germinating seeds. When working with younger children, this is a fun project to do, as each child can monitor the progress of their seeds compared to their classmates.

For older children, projects can become more involved and topics such as how plants reproduce, the life process of certain types of trees, types of bark, leaf characteristics and comparisons, studies on chlorophyll, parts of flowers and the pollenation process.
